I do a little bit of contract work sometimes for a long time friends. It’s really when he stuck and need some help on a particular project he’s working on. Over the years I have worked on lots of different types of projects with him and when I get a call whenever no what his plans are or what he is working at, which is great because the variety of things I get to do a project to get to work on are quite amazing.
Last week Tom called me and told me that they were working in a local hotel doing some renovations. The hotel is about five floors and they have just started on the first floor, which had been completely shut off to the public. It’s not a massive hotel quite small in fact. He had originally hired a crew to work on some of the plumbing in the rooms of the hotel. When I got there I was amazed at the amount of work that had already been done… one thing I must say he’s really good at this type of work and leading projects from beginning to getting everything done. He has contacts everywhere and it’s amazing the team of guys drop everything to work with him because he’s so pleasant to deal with and everybody seems to get along like an extended family.
Anyway, I got to the first room and lo and behold I have to work with one of my favourite subjects are present some heated towel radiators. These were actually quite nice and very simple but quite stylish. I started to work on the first towel radiator and it was installed quite quickly. It was really just a matter of hanging it on the wall the walls have already been tiled with a ceramic tile that was quite nice. The utilities and room had already been put in place and it was just a matter of me connecting all the plumbing together. Nice and easy job to be almost something I have done 100 times before.
Once everything was done in the first room I wanted to make sure to run some tests. I do have standards in order to make sure everything was working I was able to test out the towel warmer and I was quite presently surprised at the amount of heat that these towel rails actually give out. It’s no wonder every time I visit a city and use the hotel I always find them very warm. I guess it also depends on the make and manufacturer of towel warmer is being installed in a bathroom. There are many cheap ones on the market but it was nice to see Tom actually purchase quality products, which to be honest is the type of thing I would expect from him.
