Tig welding is mostly used by the aerospace industry.  It’s also used for welding thin work pieces especially nonferrous metals.  It is also used extensively in the manufacture of space vehicles. This welding technique is most commonly used to weld stainless steel and aluminum, but can be used on almost all metals with the restrictions being lead and zinc. The applications involving carbon steel are not limited because of process restrictions but because of the existence of better economical steel welding techniques.
